Sunflowers, Smores and School

Hello, are you busy like me? Between back to school night, canning, and trying to get ready for my own classes my life is crazy.  I am trying to find a balance and get back into a good routine but it's difficult.

To start with I thought I would show you the cutest kids to go back to school this year :)  I can't believe they are so big.

Next what's better than an after school treat.  I made these the other day because it was National S mores Day.  Did you every hear of this?? Anyway, it's very simple to make, I adapted it from Sophisto Mom.

Magic S mores Bars

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
10 ounces of 18 graham crackers
1 1/2 sticks of butter melted
a pinch of salt
1 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (I used the mini ghiradelli)
2 cups miniature marshmellows

Process graham crackers and melted butter and salt together.  Press into a 13 x 9 pan.  Bake for about five minutes.  Then add your chocolate chips.  Drizzle your milk over the top and then add your marshmellow.

Bake for about 20 more minutes until the chips are melted and marshmallows are golden brown.  Let cool or put in freezer for faster results.  Enjoy!

Some ideas I had after I made it might be to try it with a cookie base.  I just felt it needed more of a base either more grahams or maybe a sugar cookie.  I would use the regular chocolate chips too, not the mini. Of course if you really wanted to have fun and you had no allergies pecans would be great too.

Here's the Sunflower pics I promised too.

My old window frame
sunflower garland
milk bottles
little brown twig lights

galvanized buckets came out again with the burlap ribbon

These crow dolls are sentimental to me, my mom made them for me.  I've lost the Mrs. hat, and it's probably in different tote!

kept some of my blue bar jars and insulators.

Hope you are enjoying this time of the year and it seems many of you are looking forward to cooler Fall weather!

Blessings to you,

Carey

Roosters and Chicks party

Hello blogging friends, as many of you know I have developed a taste for these lovely little critters.  Last year my DH took me to a Bed and Breakfast where we stayed on a farm and I got to go help gather eggs.  Keeping them around reminds me of what a great trip I had and the memories that were created.  I have started reading about how to care for and keep chickens in my free time.  Someday I hope to have my own little flock, that's my little farm girl dream! :)

I'm joining the party!

This is my first little guy, who's sitting on my kitchen table right now.

This handsome boy is a Westmoreland candy dish I got from Etsy.  I have been changing my decor transitioning from my Red, White and Blue summer things to my Sunflowers and Crows.  I'll be back soon to share more with you soon.  If you're visiting from Note Songs, welcome to my blog I hope you'll make yourself at home and check out my blog.

Blessings,
Carey

Birthday and Anniversary Celebrations on a Budget!

Here at our house we are gearing up for back to school!  My kids are actually getting excited about it...they do this every year.  By the actual day they are so wound up it's cute!  I went shopping for school clothes with  my daughter which becomes increasingly difficult every year.  She has to find the perfect outfit.  I have a little fashionista on my hands!  My son is pretty easy to shop for.

yep...29 again!

This week I had my birthday and my anniversary was yesterday.  21 years ago I married my husband, I love him more today than ever.  He is such a good husband, provider and father to our children.

My daugher made up this Menu on the computer.  Cute? huh

This was such a cute idea we're going to do it again.  Since we were having burgers and fries..I know not very romantic for an anniversary my DD thought the 50's diner would be perfect.  However, it's my hubby's favorite meal and it saved us money.

She decked it out with pictures of Elvis, and Marilyn etc.  I'm thinking she may be a party planner when she grows up.  She is super creative and loves to plan parties :)

She wore her roller skates just this once in the house ;)

I did have to cook my own meal, but they served us and cleaned up the dishes.  Then we put on the 50s music and had a fun little sock hop right in the kitchen.  It was such a fun night at home...cost nothing!  We're going to continue this tradition and use different themes...Chinese, 80s, 70s the possibilities are endless.   What are you doing for fun this summer??

Blessings,
Carey
